This year’s Halloween Horror Nights food lineup includes some returning favorites, new items inspired by this year’s sinister houses and scare zones, and several unique photo-worthy treats.

Pizza Fries are back – a double-whammy of two favorite snacks in one – served with marinara and cheese in a skull shape on top of Oreo dirt and white chocolate bones.

Pizza Fries

While the sights, sounds, and screams of HHN may dominate your senses, don’t forget about your stomach! Various food and drink options are available throughout the night, including annual favorites and new items inspired by this year’s sinister lineup.

One of our top eats is the Pizza Fries, a fan favorite that returns this year. Crinkle fries are slathered in marinara sauce and loaded with mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, and sausage. They’re the perfect fuel for a long night of haunted houses and scare zones and are also available in a vegan version.

Another must-try is the Corpse Cookie sandwich, combining two “zombie candy corn” sugar cookies with sweet corn ice cream. This Instagram-worthy treat is sure to delight any sweet tooth!

Other themed eats include specialty doughnuts with Mummy, Bat, Vampire, and Ghost designs from Voodoo Doughnut. You’ll find these at the New York section of the park and in the food booths in Animal Actors, San Francisco, and Halloween Horror Fuel. The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen and Leaky Cauldron also serve some tasty treats.

While HHN is during the fall, Florida tends to be hot and humid on event nights. Be sure to bring a reusable water bottle to fill up before heading into the parks, and consider purchasing a drink or snack inside if you can.

Twisted Taters

This year, the Twisted Taters are getting a haunted makeover. These twisted potato-on-a-stick treats are popular at Universal Orlando and come in several flavors. During Halloween Horror Nights, you can get them seasoned salt, garlic parmesan, sour cream, and chives or a more gory option like the blood-soaked Twisted Tater Blood n Guts (which includes chili and roasted red pepper queso).

For fans of The Last of Us, the Infected Tater has a mushroom emulsion and porcini powder that adds a slight cordyceps flavor. And, of course, there are regular Twisted Taters available in seasoned salt, garlic parmesan, and sour cream and chives flavors.

You can get all these delicious treats at the food and beverage tents that sit as fixtures around the park during Halloween Horror Nights. This year’s menu features returning favorites, new items inspired by the event’s houses and scare zones, and even vegan options for guests who want to keep up with their plant-based diets.

After walking through a few houses and scare zones, you’ll likely need something cold and refreshing to rehydrate. The Magnolia Popsicle is the perfect treat to help you recover from your fright. This popsicle is made with lemon, lime, and agave nectar and topped with coconut, strawberries, and blueberries.

Chicharrones

Unlike Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, Universal Orlando takes a dark, adult-oriented approach to its food offerings at Halloween Horror Nights. Guests can enjoy event-exclusive dishes at both CityWalk and in the park.

There are a ton of new food items at this year’s event, including Dr. Oddfellow’s Carn “Evil” Dog (red hot dogs in a confetti bun with Kool-Aid pickles, bubblegum mustard and potato sticks) and Petrified Rat Tails (funghi style fried cauliflower florets with creamy crab dip and sliced scallions). There’s also a unique Pizza Skull with pepperoni and cheese stuffed skulls served with marinara sauce.

Don’t forget to satiate your sweet tooth with the Black Magic Milkshake (pumpkin dulce de leche topped with a cauldron of gummy severed body parts over whipped flames) at The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen. You can also find a variety of treats at the Trick or Treat Bucket (chocolate chip creme brulee with peanut butter and caramel popcorn, M&M’s, Reese’s Pieces, candy corn, licorice strips, and a sugar knife).

Be sure to eat before you enter the houses because food lines get long as the night goes on. In addition, if you are planning to visit multiple locations, arrive early, as many restaurants will stop serving at 1:30 a.m.

Corn Dogs

Even though Halloween Horror Nights is all about the scares, it’s also a lot of fun to sample some of the theme park’s creepy food. HHN has a new menu this year with 75 chilling items inspired by the event’s sinister lineup of houses and scare zones.

From Stranger Things and The Last of Us to Kool-Aid pickles and pepperoni pizza skulls, this year’s menu offers plenty of treats for guests who brave the houses and avoid chainsaw-wielding monsters. Some savory dishes, such as the maggot-covered cheese dog and the zombie candy corn sandwich, stray from traditional theme park fare.

Unlike most food at theme parks, which are usually high-fat and full of sodium, the HHN menu is loaded with healthy options. While the grub is still tasty and satisfying, it’s not as bad for you as fast-food or restaurant fare.

This recipe from the food blog The Darling Gourmet calls for beef frankfurters and a block of mozzarella cheese with low moisture, as it holds up better when deep fried. The batter is light and flavored with salt, pepper, and sugar. The franks are skewered and coated in the batter before being fried in oil until golden. This recipe is easy to follow, and the results are perfectly crispy on the outside with a fluffy center.
